What are IOLs
An IOL is a very small lens that is put in place of the natural lens of the eye when treating a patient for cataracts and astigmatism. The term IOL stands for intraocular lens, as the lens will reside inside the eye once it is put into place. Different types of IOLs have their benefits and features. Premium IOLs contain a more advanced technology than traditional IOLs that allows for enhanced vision at different ranges. Although traditional ocular lenses can restore cloudy vision, the patient who receives traditional lenses will still have to wear glasses for seeing at some ranges. The premium IOL options are multi-focusing lenses that will improve eyesight at all distances.
